A personal site for myself has been a long time coming. I decided a short while ago to give it an honest effort and here you have it; jchristopher.me. Unlike Monday By Noon I’d like to use this site to focus more on the design work I do, as well as the other things that occupy me day to day. That includes my photography, the music I listen to, the video games I play, and the other bits of information I find interesting.
The site is meant to act as another outlet to encompass the things that just don’t make sense to post on Monday By Noon, so if you’re only interested in keeping up with Web design & development specifically, this feed may not be for you (but maybe you can find some others if you’d like :))

Through the past four years, I've been publishing weekly in-depth articles with a focus on Web design and development.
It’s things like this that make me more than happy to hit ‘Buy’ repeatedly. Could you imagine if Adobe provided such things? This reminds me of a nice post I read some time ago on transparency in software development in which Colin discusses the importance of software makers keeping in contact with their supporters. While Panic [...]

Although not a device I’ll likely be picking up on launch day, the iPad seems to be taking hold as the device it was intended to be. I’ll be honest; my initial reaction to the iPad was a generic lack of surprise. Aside from the wild speculation taking place, I was nearly convinced it’d be [...]

My name is Jonathan Christopher, and I'm a 25 year old Web designer. Actually, truth be told, I'm a Web designer, a developer, an amateur photographer, a writer, a video game player, a music listener, and a big fan of Seinfeld.
I'm engaged to the love of my life, Carrie, and I currently work as the Lead Front End Developer at Overit Media in Albany, NY.

I design and develop websites. My primary focus is on front end (client side) development, which encompasses (X)HTML (markup), CSS (style), and JavaScript (behavior). I also have a very deep rooted interest in the processes behind good Web design. That includes the processes involved in every aspect of a project, from client interaction throughout design, development, and deployment.
I also have a strong interest in back end (server side) development. I have a strong familiarity with a number of server side languages, but prefer to limit my workload to PHP. I also have experience with database implementation and integration. My knowledge is limited to working with MySQL databases. I spend every day working with WordPress to deliver client websites.
I hand craft websites from start to finish.

I feel it’s important that the extension of my skill set is clearly defined, and that includes what I am incapable of. The most common of which include the following.
My knowledge of Web design does not cover Adobe Flash in any way, shape, or form. While I do have experience in ActionScript 3, it is on a purely hobbyist level. I prefer to focus on browser-native technologies. I have no knowledge of video production in any degree. I also have no knowledge of motion graphics, 3D model design, or custom illustration. I’ve got no experience in branding or logo design, either.
There are plenty of other things I can’t do, but these most closely relate to my industry and I hope putting it out there clarifies what it is I do professionally.

If you'd like to shoot me a quick note, I'd love to hear from you. If you've got questions about Web design, development, photography, Monday By Noon, my career, or anything of the sort, I'd be more than happy to answer!
As things go with email, I'll do my best to reply to each inquiry I receive in a reasonable amount of time. That's not to say, though, that I'm able to respond to every email within a day. There's a good chance you may not hear back from me for up to a week but please bear with me and don't be discouraged. I'm equally frustrated by people who offer a communication outlet and then don't follow through with it.
